Rental rates in San Antonio are now at an all-time high. Families are looking at the same monthly obligations whether they rent vs. buy. “As the lull continues for new apartment construction, third-quarter figures show a boost in occupancy while rental rates hit all-time high.
The occupancy rate hit 91.5 percent, a 1.2 percent increase from the second quarter and the highest rate reported since 2007, according to a study done by Austin Investor Interests. The average rental rate reached the highest level San Antonio has seen with a 2-cent jump to $0.86 per square foot. The average rent in San Antonio, according to the study, is listed at $708.
During the past seven quarters, the city’s multifamily sector has absorbed 9,000 units with the addition of about 6,700. There were 224 new units added during the third quarter. About 2,500 units are under construction and should be completed within the next 15 months.”
