Some noise may be normal on wood floors. |
Correct any construction defects found. |
| Uneven floors |
Floor should not be more than 3/16"
out of level within any 48" measurement. Floor slope
within any room shall not exceed 2" for every 12'. |
Make the necessary repairs to correct
the condition. |
| Interior walls should be vertical
and plumb |
Walls may show a horizontal displacement
of 1/4" in 8' of rise in wall without a door, or 1/4"
in 8' of wall with a door if there is no indication of
structural deficiency. |
Make corrections (e.g., wall should
be furred out and drywall replaced or floated.) |
| Walls should be at 90 degree
angles to each other, unless specified otherwise. |
Walls 10' in length shall not vary
more than 1/4" from the perpendicular to the adjoining
wall. |
Make modifications to the wall to
improve its appearance, if no structural defects are indicated.

| Rough openings for door and
windows should be properly dimensioned, plumb, and level |
The rough opening should be installed
according to the manufacturer's recommendations. |
Assure that openings are structurally
sound and cosmetically pleasing. |
| Warped and twisted studs and
ceiling joists |
Wall and ceiling should be level and
should not bulge more than 1/4" in 10'. |
Make cosmetic corrections where no
structural deficiencies are indicated. |
| Twisted or warped interior
posts or beams |
Any beam or post that twists more
than 3/8" in an 8' section is considered unacceptable. |
Make necessary repairs to correct
condition. |
| Cracked interior beams (finished
beams) |
Cracks in rough interior beams which
do not affect structural strength are acceptable if patched
or filled. |
Make necessary repairs. |
