Watch this video to learn more about how new homes in Dana Point are constructed from a quality new home builder. Blake, a great guy on the Fieldstone construction team, walks you through a couple of items that go into the foundation of every new home. In fact, this video is actually the new home on Lot 1 at the Cove in Dana Point.
Why Put Clear Plastic Under Slab?
The clear plastic Visqueen is actually a moisture barrier to stop water from seeping up from the soil into your home. Water continues to rise to the surface for year to come and the Visqueen keeps your home protected.
There’s Cables Under a New Home Slab?
Post tension cables are put down in the slab through out the entire bottom floor on the home. The cables are anchored down on one side and stick out the other end. Once the foundation is poured and cured, the cables are stressed and cut into place. This keeps the foundation together over the life of your new home.
Shear Panels, Hold Down Bolts, On My…
Besides the amount of rebar that lies beneath the slab, there are shear panels straps that tie the foundation to the first floor, to the second floor, to the roofing system. Hold down bolts are also added to the process to help tie the foundation to the framing of the home.
