The Tour of Utah is known as “America’s Toughest Stage Race”, which is a 7 day, officially sanctioned, multi stage bicycle race. This race is free to attend and traverses some of the nation's most breathtaking and diverse terrain. Another fun event takes place every year in Heber Valley. The beautiful Heber Valley's Soldier Hollow (site of the biathlon and cross-country skiing events for the 2002 Olympics) hosts the world's premier annual sheepdog championship on Labor Day weekend.

Utah Jazz Basketball

Looking to follow a professional sports team? Look no further than the NBA's Utah Jazz, who hold court every season at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in downtown Salt Lake City. The team plays in the Western Conference Northwest Division. Follow the excitement of this professional basketball team all season long, if you crave more check out their minor league team! 

Their Jazz (D-League) team, the Salt Lake City Stars is also in Salt Lake giving locals an inexpensive and fun way to get their basketball fix. Did you know that The Utah Jazz have the sixth-highest all-time NBA regular season win-loss record percentage (.537) among all current NBA teams?

Real Salt Lake

Utah is home to the professional soccer team, Real Salt Lake, owners of the 2009 Major League Soccer Cup. The team plays at the beautiful Rio Tinto Stadium down in Sandy. Real Salt Lake’s reserve side plays in the United Soccer League with the Real Monarchs. The league offers young prospects and new professionals an opportunity to “Rise to Royalty” under the auspices of the RSL system.

University Sports

Still need more sports fixes? Don't worry Utah has more! For a state its size, Utah has no of shortage of collegiate athletics to enjoy. From BCS conference football in front of 50,000 screaming coeds, championship-level community college basketball, college sports offer travelers an exciting reason to travel to Utah.

The University of Utah and Brigham Young University has a rivalry comparable to the old Celtics-Lakers franchise. Basketball, Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Rugby… you name it and there will most likely be thousands of fans cheering and taunting each other.

The University of Utah athletic program was added to the Pac-12 conference in 2011, after its football team "busted the BCS" two times in the first decade of the 2000s.

Brigham Young University has a prolific athletic program, including a men's basketball team that made it to the NCAA "Sweet Sixteen" in 2011.

Utah State University plays in the Mountain West Conference. Nicknamed the "Aggies" the school's basketball area, The Spectrum, is one of the most feared venues in all of athletic sports, featuring a raucous student body that displays no mercy to their opponents.

Weber State, Utah Valley University, Southern Utah University, Dixie State College, Westminster College, Snow College, Salt Lake Community College, College of Eastern Utah all have athletic programs for visitors to enjoy.
