Closing Your New Home

Congratulations! You have completed a major milestone. We are thrilled that you have made the decision to change yours and your families life by building a new home in Utah with FieldStone Homes. This time will be busy and exhausting, but still exciting and worth every minute. Here are some things you can expect during this exciting time.

What Is My First Step?

The closing of your new FieldStone home will be handled by a professional agent at the title company. When the escrow agent receives the approved loan package and loan documents from the lender, the title company will contact you to schedule an appointment to sign their closing documents. Upon your arrival, you will meet your "Closer" to review and sign the closing documents.

What You Will Need

You will need to bring the following items with you in order to have a smooth closing experience:
  • A valid U.S. Government-Issued ID (i.e. non-expired Driver's License, Military ID or Passport)
  • You must bring a cashier's check with your name shown as "Remitter" or have funds wired to the title company for the closing costs.
  • Married couples: Both spouses must attend. (All persons on the loan docs must attend; sometimes a transaction can have more than one co-buyer.)
  • Power of Attorney (POA): If a Power of Attorney (POA) is needed, the title company must approve this form and have a copy prior to the closing day. The original POA must be brought to closing. NOTE: the title company must be able to reach the person giving the POA at the time of closing. Make sure they are available for that phone call.
  • Gift Funds: If you are receiving money from someone other than your spouse to help pay your closing costs, please notify your lender and the title company before closing.
  • Lender Requirements: If your lender is still in need of specific documents in order to close, please bring these to the title company.
After you have signed all the paperwork, we have received all your funds and all the lender requirements have been met, FieldStone Homes is notified and your sales counselor is authorized to release the keys to your new home.

Your Second Step

Here are some tips as you being packing up and moving into your new homes. Keep in mind that we are here to help with anything you need! Your sales counselor and Field Construction manager are here to help you along the way!
  • Have a "First night" box packed so that you can be confortable your first night in the home. Think about the toiletries and items you and your family might need in your new home. Unpack your 'first night in your new home box' and start to organize your toiletries and other important items.
  • Start unpacking and organizing your clothes in the appropriate closet areas so you can get a feel for your new home. We are pretty sure that you will have already handled who is going to have what room!
  • Plan to Wait at least 24 hours before turning on appliances and electronic items, that way your utilitiy companies can catch up with you.
  • Designated one area for unpacking and start with high priority items first, like your food, and clothes, the things that you need every day. It might be helpful to do that in your new LARGE livinging room!
  • Encourage the entire family to unpack their items and organize them in their respective rooms, this may help your kids to feel more in control of their new environment.
  • Begin introducing yourselves to your immediate neighbors, here at FieldStone we believe in creating communities, and in giving back to those communities! So have at it, we promise your neighbors will be friendly and welcoming.
  • Begin calling your utility companies (a list should have been provided to you) and setting up your electric, gas and garbage service. Some cities run such that all these services are right there. Kind of like a one stop shop!
  • Find a new bank, pharmacy, dry cleaners and other services.
  • Finally, We know that you will love your new FielStone home! So share that with others! Remember that you could earn $250.00 if you refer someone to us and they purchase a new home.
